Serenade Garden Disease Control Review

I have grown tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and peppers for a number of years. Every year, the tomatoes and even some peppers are quickly overtaken by early blight, septoria leaf spots, and other soil-borne, fungus based diseases (there are a lot of them). Many of them cause the dark spots on the leaves that turn yellow in concentric circles out from the spot until the whole leaf, and eventually the branch, turns yellow and dies. This usually happens from the lower limbs and works its way up. It eventually takes over and basically kills the whole plant. This is usually well before the plant is finished producing fruit. I also have the same type of blight on squash and cucumbers as well as powdery mildew (another fungus). I try very hard to maintain as much of an organic garden as possible and did not like the idea of the other fungicides that were available on the market - even those that were supposed to be organic (i.e. copper). I was very excited, after much research, to find out about Serenade Garden. It uses a type of bacteria (Bacillus subtilis) that is completely harmless to humans, pets, or beneficial bugs. It works very much like 'BT' (Bacillus thuringiensis) does on cabbage worms - killing the worms but you can eat the produce the same day that you spray. Serenade only attacks and kills the many, many fungi that are responsible for taking down many of our garden plants every year. And you can harvest and eat the fruits and vegetables the same day that you spray.

I already had signs of blight on several of my tomatoes by the time I found out about this product. I sprayed the very first day it arrived and it definitely retarded the spread of the blight. I was able to spray my cucumbers, squash, and peppers before there were signs of any fungus and they are the best looking plants I have ever had by this point in the summer with only a very occasional sign of yellowing leaves. I have had to be vigilant about spraying the tomatoes on a weekly basis, especially those that are not disease resistant, but it is definitely helping. I am using the maximum recommended strength (4 oz to 1 gallon of water), and carefully spraying underneath the leaves as well as the tops. I also trim away any small limbs that appear to still have any of the disease. The difference this year is that I still have branches all the way to the ground in most plants and my plants are much greener and healthier than they have ever been at this point. It apparently has a harder time stopping various fungi after they have started up in a plant, but with regular sprays, you can definitely slow it down and save your plants. Next year I plan to start spraying Serenade Garden before the first signs of any of the 'blights' on my tomatoes and expect great results. I hope that I can reduce the amount that I use to the lower dosage to use less product.

It also works on roses, trees, etc. as they are also prone to a number of these nasty fungi.

I strongly recommend this product to anyone that has had the frustration of watching their plants turn yellow and die with fruit still hanging on the vines. It is as easy to use as any spray concentrate and is very safe.
