Mexicola Grande Avocado Tree--Will Arrive Between 3 and 4 Feet Tall Review

The Mexicola Grande is a very fast growing tree. Only problem is the shipping charge, but it is understandable that when shipping something in this category, the high fee is unavoidable. My tree is in its third year and it has tolerated cold quite well. My location is about 15 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and our winters can present us with a few harsh days. The rating on the Mexicola is for a low of 25�F. My observation is that such a rating is about 5� too low. So far this winter, temps of 20�F have occurred. To circumvent damage to the tree, last year I began lacing the tree with strings of 7 watt Christmas lights and covering the tree with a couple of cotton sheets tied to the tree using nylon string. This has worked extremely well, but the drawback is that the tree thinks it is in a hot house. As of this date, January 27, 2011, the tree has begun to form blossoms!! After three years, the tree is about 12 ft. high.
