Product Description
One Pound of genuine Penncross Bentgrass Seed.Penncross Bentgrass Seed produces a perennial creeping turf grass with aggressiveness, vigor, and wear tolerance. Since 1955, Penncross creeping bentgrass seed is still the most specified and most widely used and trusted bentgrass in the world. Along with providing a smooth surface for putting greens, its aggressive lateral growth and ability to recover quickly makes Penncross bent grass variety a great choice for use on tees and landing areas as well as high maintenance lawns.
Penncross's ability to perform under a wide range of conditions makes this bentgrass adaptable virtually worldwide. Golf course architects have specified Penncross for areas of extreme cold and heat. Todd's Seeds does not recommend the use of Penncross Bentgrass in the humid "Deep South" areas of the USA.
Bentgrasses such as this variety are generally used for golf course putting greens and require extensive maintenance activities. Homeowners should investigate the care required for this grass, along with the soil, air and drainage requirements needed to make this grass grow before planting.
Penncross Creeping Bent Grass Seeds- 1 Lb of Putting Green Seed, Bentgrass, Bentgrass Seed Review
Perhaps it's my locale in Orange County , CA - or my soil - the picture shows a putting green - but my 1 lb. bag produced a very wispy crop of grass in my apartment "mini yard" which is ok... it looks good but doesn't seem like the tough bermudas I see in my neighborhood - (which is what I was hoping for), some properties have that tight carpet like a serious putting green - and it's not what I have. I have 6 inch long, thin wisps of mostly very green grass. My "lawn" is only sprouted since July 20 or so (2013), so maybe it will still mature into that thick weave I'm hoping for. As it is now, my little min-pin dog can scratch easily to the soil with a couple of rear paw sweeps, so this lawn is not very "tough". It doesn't take to being stepped very well. I feel like I'm damaging it when I walk on it. If it matures and toughens up - I will come back and perhaps upgrade my review to 4 or 5 stars. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Penncross Creeping Bent Grass Seeds- 1 Lb of Putting Green Seed, Bentgrass, Bentgrass Seed" are high quality item.
