Emperor One Japanese Maple 4 - Year Graft Review

We were told by local nursery that these tree's were real expensive and do not do well in Wisconsin weather. We ignored the nursery and ordered a 3 year graft through Amazon. it was not much more than a real frail branch grafted onto a root but the color of the leaves was amazing. For about two weeks that is when the leaves started falling off. Been about 4 weeks now and showing no sign of growth and very few leaves left on it.

Update 1-2012:
Not really any thing positive about this tree yet. After a complete summer several of the few leaves that came out since planting had blown off the tree. The tree did not grow a bit during the summer and only 2 new leaves grew out all summer. We'll see what nex year brings.

Update 2-2013:
This tree did leaf out very nicely the second year. Not a lot of growth but leaves are very nice. Wisconsin weather had no ill affects on the tree. Another 10 years and it might get 6 ft tall, but i doubt it. If planning as a centerpiece in the front yard you may want to find something that would have a little faster growth.
